Back at it again, this time with Yukie's route. The screenshot count made a huge jump, at 1050.
This route was heavy on the silly, for sure. There was a funny race, the literal Prime Minister of Japan becoming her friend, and then a King of Fighters style tournament. It was edge-of-your-seat fun the whole way through.
If I had to complain about it, I would say that there wasn't a lot of the Kazama family dynamics that absolutely melted my heart in Miyako's route -- I was more woah and less aww, which I probably only came to expect coming straight from Miyako's route.
After being subject to the same you're super strong and people find you scary kind of social isolation as Momoyo, Yukie found a friend in Matsukaze, a tsukumogami possessing a horse-shaped cellphone strap her dad gave her, who now talks to other people through her.
That is to say, she isolated the parts of herself that she doesn't like into a funny character she does ventriloquism with to use as some form of shield.

Yukie's route is about her struggle to find self-confidence and find friends.
Mayucchi
I mentioned in my last Majikoi log that I had a bit of a thing for pathetic socially awkward girls. Vikala from Granblue Fantasy, Hitori from Bocchi the Rock!, Tomoko from WataMote, etc. Yukie definitely scratched an itch in that department. She's an extremely endearing character, it's very hard not to root for her.
I really really like that all of Yukie's progress with finding her confidence was because of her own effort. Yamato was mainly there to support her from the sidelines. Miyako's route was like that too, actually. It's something I genuinely appreciate about Majikoi -- it lets its characters grow outside of the context of the main character.
Matsukaze is also extremely funny once you realize that what he's saying is, at least to some degree, what Yukie wants to say, or how she really feels.
She's uses him to hide the fact that she's kind of a freak too, actually.
I think it's really cute

Up Next
I want to save Wanko and Momoyo's routes for last, so up next I'll be doing Chris' route. I'm excited to see how the girl who clearly hates Yamato the most warms up to him.
