Initially daunted by the sheer length of the series I finally decided to give this series a try. I was primarily convinced by just how fucking hot Miyako looks, to be honest.
HNNNNNNGG
I was honestly decently surprised by how, simply put, well-written this game is and its characters are so far. I came in expecting it to be funny (you don't get 8(?) games and an anime adaptation in 2009 by being NOT funny), but I didn't expect for me to actually have any emotional investment in the characters! Despite the wacky setting and premise, the characters, especially the main ones, all manage to find away to waltz their way into your heart, and you can't help but root for them, and it's all because of the really good character writing.
except you. you sex pervert. stay away from me
The main characters, the Kazama family especially. They've all somehow managed to both transcend AND embrace the anime tropes they embody.
A good metric I like to use to gauge how much I'm enjoying anything watchable or readable is how many snippets of it I save. That's Kindle highlights, anime screenshots, etc. It's not the most scientific metric (the number will skew higher for stuff that's funny, for example), but it's a handy metric nonetheless.
After the prologue and a little bit into one character's route (no points for guessing who) I've amassed a hefty 379 screenshots. I even made a Python script to convert the BMP images the game makes into JPG ones.

If you're a big fan of found family type stories, like I am, or just want a good laugh, I would highly, highly recommend checking this game out.
I'll write my thoughts on Miyako's route when I finally finish it, but my preliminary thoughts on her route so far can be boiled down to "holy shit what a freak /pos"
Like what the hell. In front of breakfast????
come on man
After Miyako's route I'll probably do either Mayucchi or Wanko's route next. I'm undecided.
On a completely unrelated note, I've also recently finished the first chapter of Soukou Akki Muramasa, and I'll write my thoughts about that too once I finish uncompartmentalizing and processing what I've read. It was kinda rough, to say the least.
